NEW YEARS IN THE MOUNTAINS

The holidays this year was one for the books. Since I was on break from school for a month, I was able to sleep in…kind of. We spent a lot of time with family and friends, which is always my favorite part about the holiday season. My mom and I made Acacia’s Christmas stocking together, just like she did for me and my brother. And we made gingerbread houses with Dustin’s family. On Christmas Eve, we were up until 4 a.m. sipping on peppermint schnapps and hot cocoa while putting together the stockings and doing some last minute wrapping…this Santa thing is kinda fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My family wanted to go on a little mountain getaway to ring in the New Year. So we all decided on a cabin in Donnelly, ID that we found on AirBnB. Donnelly is a small town nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges. It was a beautiful drive, with fresh snow blanketing the trees and river. Ourย cabin was on Lake Cascade with its own private dock. We all decided the first two days at the cabin were exclusively for family, but we invited some friends up to celebrate for New Year’s Eve and had a blast! Theย lake was frozen and covered in snow, so we would go sledding down the hillside and see who could make it the farthest out on the lake. Acacia hated the cold (just like her mama) so she preferred to stay cozy in the cabin majority of the time. I did manage to get her all bundled up for a couple rounds of sledding for the first time and to take some photos in the snow…you can see in pics that she was not having it. Dustin and I had some time to ourselves while we were there, so we drove about 10 minutes up the highway to McCall where we ate lunch and browsed the local shops. On NYE we all played games, drank, talked, and laughed together. Then some of us went on a midnight sled-run.

How did you guys ring in the New Years? <3
