I’m currently writing this post as I’m curled up on my couch, recouping from a week of camping and non-stop excitement on the Oregon Coast with my family. We spent four nights camping at Honeyman State Park just south of Florence, Oregon. Honeyman is completely surrounded by the lush coastal forests of the Siuslaw National Forest, which are met by the towering sand dunes of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area to the west. In the middle are two lakes – Cleawox Lake, which is small lake dammed by the sand dunes, & Lake Woahink, which we camped closest to.

Needless to say, the campground is absolutely gorgeous and there are countless activities for the whole family to enjoy – from sand boarding down the dunes, to fishing, to paddle boarding the lake. There are also bathrooms and showers for all you people out there who aren’t fans of “real” camping. 😉

We spent most of our time swimming and rafting at both lakes, and I’ve got the sunburn to prove it. My uncle even brought his generator and a tarp to the lake and made a slippin’ slide down the side of the dunes into Cleawox lake! Every kid at the lake, and even some adults, were in absolute heaven. We also made a couple trips to the ocean so we could enjoy the sunset on the beach and collect seashells. The whole week was a blast. Our family has been flirting with the idea of making Honeyman State Park home to our traditional camping trip, so hopefully this was just the first of many visits to the Oregon coast.

Stay tuned because Monday we are flying to Washington D.C. to spend the remainder of the summer exploring museums and national monuments!

Safe Travels, xx
